Artist Statement
It is the experience of place and moment that moves me to
lift my camera to my eye. The images I create are not preconceived or
planned; my approach to photography is spontaneous. I see the world and
its beauty as ever changing. Time is always in flux. To freeze an image
in focus would be untrue to my experience of that moment. The resulting
images are a visual abstraction through which I encourage the viewers
to alter their own visual and emotional perception of the world. There
is a consistency in my imagery that results from my manipulation of the
camera and lens; however, there is no alteration of any kind to the resulting
negative or print.
This body of work is photographed with a Twin Lens Reflex
camera circa 1960 and shot on Kodak Portra Film.
The images are printed by Carol Fonde on Kodak Endura Paper.
Exhibition format is 20" x 24" C-Prints.
